In recent years there's been a broad push to increase diversity at the C-Suite and subsequent senior leadership levels amongst many leading organizations and industries including healthcare. Despite this effort, diversity in many of these top tier roles across numerous industries has not reached the levels that reflect their respective populations or customer base.
While many industries are adapting to the diversity, and adjusting their executive tier to properly align, healthcare is still lagging behind in terms of diversity in key senior leadership roles. The change in healthcare delivery has necessitated the need to close the diversity gap in the U.S. Healthcare C-Suite in order to increase effectiveness at all levels of service and healthcare delivery. So, while other industries, including healthcare continue to rapidly change and advance, it has become inherently necessary to actively bridge the diversity gap as respective opportunities arise.
While many chief executive officers have agreed that a diverse workplace helps an organization to achieve its strategic goals, studies continue to show that healthcare organizations need to undertake greater initiatives in closing the executive diversity gap.
Triangle Healthcare Executives’ Forum (THEF), a non-profit professional society and independent
chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) focused on the development of health care leaders, will host a panel of esteemed leaders on May 11, 2021 who are change agents within their respective professions and advocates for diverse representation in C-Suite and other subsequent senior leadership roles.
Included in the discussion will be the following areas of concentration:
Why is it crucial for leadership teams to represent the populations that they serve?
Should organizations disclose diversity in greater detail by level or function?
What barriers must be addressed to enhance leadership diversity?
How can organizations remove these barriers that have historically produced limited opportunities for minorities to advance into Senior Leadership and C-Suite roles?
What strategies can organizations utilize to expand their pool of diverse candidates?
